The Council compiles a current and comprehensive listing of drug and alcohol resources for the community. Below you will find a list of resources, categorized by the intended audience. If you are aware of a resource that is not listed here and should be, please email the information to the Council.

Please also visit the National Clearinghouse for Drug and Alcohol Information (NCADI) website - a thorough resource site for drug and alcohol information.

After School Alliance - an organization dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of afterschool programs and advocating for more afterschool investments.

The Anti-Drug - Facts about drugs, advice, news and parenting info. Focuses on healthy alternative activities. Sponsored by the National Youth Anti-Drug Media Campaign.

Bullying Prevention - This site is designed to help communities across the nation take advantage of what has been learned and accomplished over the past 3-1/2 years by the schools, districts and nonprofit organizations participating in The Colorado Trust’s $8.6 million Bullying Prevention Initiative (BPI).

Center on Addiction and the Family - provides resources and answers questions for caregivers regarding a variety of substance abuse issues in families.

Center for Safe Schools - seeks creative and effective solutions to problems that disrupt the educational process and affect school safety.

Center for Schools and Communities - prevention and intervention initiatives operated by schools, organizations, and agencies serving children, youth, and families.

Child Trends - A guide to assessing and increasing school engagement.

Foster Care Central - a social networking tool primarily for foster parents and social workers.

National Families in Action - National Families in Action was founded in Atlanta, Georgia in 1977. Its mission is to help families and communities prevent drug use among children by promoting policies based on science.

Parenting Teens Online - the online information resource for parents of teenagers.

Partnership for a Drug-Free America - mission is to reduce the demand for illegal drugs through media communication. Check out A Parent's Guide to the Teen Brain.

PaTTAN - an initiative of the PA Department of Education working in partnership with families and local education agencies to support programs and services to improve student learning and achievement.

PA Parent Information and Resource Center - provides training and consultation to urban, rural and suburban communities throughout Pennsylvania.

PA Statewide Afterschool/Youth Development Network (PSAYDN) - promotes sustainable, high-quality out-of-school time youth development programs through advocacy and capacity building to enhance the welfare of Pennsylvania’s children, youth and families.

Resiliency in Action - a site focusing on how young people can bounce back from risks, stress, crises, and trauma and experience life success.

Safe Kids Pennsylvania - promotes the prevention of childhood injuries in Pennsylvania through education, collaboration and advocacy.

Search Institute - a leading global innovator in discovering what children and adolescents need to become caring, healthy, and responsible adults.

SPELL, Inc. - a support group for parents of special education students in Reading and throughout Berks County.

Teen Drug Abuse - provides information for parents to help troubled teens who have been struggling with drug and/or alcohol abuse through prevention, intervention and a support network.

Time to Act - a new, first-of-its-kind resource to help parents spot signs and symptoms, have productive conversations with their teens, and find outside help if they need it.

Who Mentored You? - interactive site showcases testimonials by a host of luminaries such as Oprah and former President Bill Clinton about their childhood mentors.

Youth Frontiers - information about programs and resources aimed at making schools and communities safer and healthier.
