Prevention explores the dangers of addiction and enhances skills to minimize adopting such behaviors. The dangers of addictive behaviors can be prevented by providing consistent information and education that stress the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and making proactive decisions to promote wellness.
The Council provides a list of Resources for Parents that includes information on the following:
- Raising drug-free kids
- Suspecting drug abuse and how to identify certain signs and symptoms
- Additional resources, reviewing topics such as bullying prevention, how to talk to your child about drugs, drug facts for parents, and much more.
The Council provides a variety of prevention services that can be tailored to any age group, topic, or setting in Berks County. Prevention services range from single session education to multi-session evidence-based curriculum. All services are provided free of charge.
