This course will address ethical considerations in addiction treatment. In protecting the client, the agency and the counselor from litigation, the counselor must have knowledge and understanding of State and Federal laws and regs governing the treatment of the addict, and the HIV positive client. The topic of court-mandated clients will be addressed, as well as general concerns about counselor/client limitations and boundaries. Boundary violations will also be discussed.
This is a required training for drug and alcohol treatment providers. However, this training is also appropriate for any professional who works with clients with substance abuse and/or mental health concerns, as well as staff from social service agencies including mental health, children and youth, adult and juvenile probation, domestic relations, and public assistance.
Six PCB credits will be offered for the workshop.
