This training will provide education on the growing need for treatment specific to older adults with Substance Use Disorder. Topics discussed will include complications of co-occurring issues within this population, caregiver burnout, and ways caregivers can practice self-care.

Sharon is the Clinical Director of the Older Adult Program at Caron Treatment Centers. The mission of the Older Adult Program is to give the patients quality and purpose of life and to once again have connection and life worth living! Working at Caron for 23 years she developed the Older Adult Program and has been the Director since it began in February 2015. Previously she developed and supervised the Women’s Extended Care program as well as the Family Program at that level of care. Sharon has a Master’s degree in counseling psychology, is a Licensed Professional Counselor, an Advanced Certified Relapse Prevention Specialist, a Certified Clinical Supervisor, and a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist and Certified Multiple Addictions Therapist. Sharon is also a co-facilitator of the Chronic Pain group for adult patients, which is designed to treat Chronic Pain patients with non-addictive free pain management and relapse prevention. Sharon presents nationally on Effective Treatment for Addicted Older Adults and Caregivers, and Women in Recovery: Healing the Shame, Addiction Interaction, Workshops on Early Recovery, detaching with Love and Self Care.
