Berks County Community Foundation
237 Court Street, Reading, PA 19601
Presenter: Polly Kahl, MA, LPC
This presentation is designed for anyone interested in better understanding hoarding disorders and how to respond to the problem. The workshop will cover the similarities and differences between hoarding and substance addiction and will provide basic options for treating hoarders in Berks County. Although it’s only in the past few years that we’ve begun to examine the prevalence of hoarding it’s estimated that 2-5% of the population suffers from this compulsive behavior. Hoarding is an invisible problem which is shrouded in shame and has dire negative psychological, physical and social consequences for not only the hoarder fut the hoarder’s family, neighbors and community.
