Vaping: What is it? What does it do? Whether you use electronic cigarettes or not, this will be an informative presentation to discuss the impact of electronic smoking devices on our youth and adults. Speakers will focus on recent developments in policy and law regulations regarding electronic cigarettes, as well as discuss how electronic cigarettes can perpetuate nicotine addiction rather than aid in quitting. This presentation will give you the “other side of the story” about vaping. Manufacturers of these products do not tell you about safety issues, device dangers and health risks.

Teresa Tieman Detweiler, MA, organizes the tobacco dependence treatment program for the Council on Chemical Abuse. She is responsible for facilitating smoking cessation classes at multiple worksites, multi-unit housing facilities, and healthcare centers throughout Berks County. She also helps to strengthen tobacco and nicotine policies for local organizations and municipalities.

Katherine Shambaugh, CADC, CTTS, is a tobacco dependence treatment counselor for the Wellness Center at Lancaster General Health. She is responsible for coordinating the free quit tobacco programs for the health system, and is a member of the Tobacco-Free Coalition of Lancaster County and Lancaster County Recovery Alliance.
