Addiction Resource Library

The Council on Chemical Abuse, in collaboration with the Berks County Library System, hosts an Addiction Resource Library that is open to the public. The library is located in our offices at 601 Penn St., Suite 600, in Reading and is open Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The library is a clearinghouse of materials that address topics such as addictions, codependency, recovery, behavioral health, refusal skills and parenting. The library offers books, video DVDs, and visual aids that are available for the public to borrow.

In order to borrow materials from the library, you must have a Berks County Library System library card. You may reserve any of our materials online or by email at Reserved items must be picked up at the Addictions Resource Library within five days after the reservation is made.

How to find our available titles online

1. Visit the Berks County Library System website.
2. At the top of the homepage, search for the topic of your choice, such as “addiction,” or “recovery.” You can also search for a specific title.
3. On the page of search results, you will see a left hand sidebar. The first category at the top of the sidebar is “Owning Libraries.” Select “Council on Chemical Abuse.” This will narrow your search results to only those books on your topic that are located in our Addiction Resource Library.
