Prescription drug abuse is an epidemic, cutting across geographic, racial, ethnic and socioeconomic boundaries. This training provides an overview of the current epidemic/trend involving abuse of prescription drugs. The signs and symptoms of abuse are presented with attention to contributing factors such as the internet and how the drugs are obtained and used.  Treatment and prevention are highlighted including a focus on the local efforts to address the problem.

This training is appropriate for any professional who works with clients with substance abuse and/or mental health concerns, staff from social service agencies and health care agencies.  6.5 CAC and 6.5 social work credits will be offered for this training.

Trainers:
Dr. Joseph Garbely, a member of the Addiction Medicine team at Caron Treatment Centers, is Board certified in Psychiatry, Addiction Medicine, and Internal Medicine.

Martin V. Ferrero, MA, CADC, LADC, CSAT is the senior clinical director of Adult Services at Caron Treatment Centers, PA.
