Addiction is a chronic disease and as with any chronic disease, when treatment regimens are not followed, relapse can occur. This course reviews the many situations and conditions that lead to relapse. Relapse determinants, co-morbidity, myths, misconceptions and assumptions about relapse will be examined.
Relapse Prevention is a required training for drug and alcohol counselors. Any professional who works with clients with substance abuse and/or mental health concerns- training is appropriate for staff from social service agencies including mental health, children and youth, adult and juvenile probation, domestic relations, and public assistance.
Six CAC credits will be offered for the workshop.
