A complex relationship exists between trauma and addiction. Substance abuse and dependence is one of the common co-occurring disorders for individuals suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. Untreated trauma is a significant barrier to sobriety and long-term recovery.
This training will assist human service and behavioral health professionals in:
- Gaining a better understanding of the types of trauma
- Understanding how the brain is impacted by trauma and substance abuse
- Acquiring an understanding of treatment strategies for trauma and addiction
Training is appropriate for social service professionals or any other professional who works with clients with substance abuse and/or mental health concerns.
